What are the different self-service user experiences?
Understanding EnoSoft Professional and Card Generator software systems
When using Enomatic self-service systems (Unica Roma and Unica Bubbles), you have two software options: Card Generator and EnoSoft Professional. Each offers a different customer experience and level of functionality.
Please note that these software levels are only relevant to Unica Roma models.
Card Generator – Simple Pre-Paid System
Think of Card Generator like a gift card. Staff pre-load money onto a card and customers can use it until the credit runs out.
- Card credit is loaded directly from the machine before service (daily or weekly, as needed)
- Best for simple tasting experiences (eg. $30 for four wines, or for three free samples)
- Browser-based app for entering wine details (price, pour size, region, etc.)
Pros:
- Included with the machine (no extra license cost)
- Simple to set up and train staff
- Staff can reload cards easily
Cons:
- Refunds on un-used credit, if needed, are manual and time-consuming
- No detailed data or reporting
Best suited for: Smaller venues or set-price tasting experiences where refunds aren’t expected.
The typical customer experience of using Card Generator mode is that your customer purchases a pre-loaded wine access card, which they can then use until they are out of credit. They can then reload it.
EnoSoft Professional – Flexible Pre-Paid or Post-Paid System
EnoSoft Professional works more like a credit card or membership system, giving you much more flexibility.
- Supports both pre-paid (gift voucher style) and post-paid (tab style) models
- Cards can be linked to customer profiles for personalised pricing, memberships, or spending limits
- Tracks sales data and customer preferences for better business insights
- Requires a Windows laptop and card reader at POS (included in the self-service package)
Pros:
- Advanced reporting and analytics
- Centralised input of wine and customer information in a dedicated software system
- Enhanced customer experience with personalised cards and flexible payment options (pre-paid, post-paid, or credit limit)
Cons:
- One-off software license cost
- Requires laptop and card reader space at POS
Best suited for: Busy venues wanting flexible payment flows, data tracking, and a premium customer experience.
The typical customer experience of using EnoSoft Professional is entering the venue, swapping a credit card for a wine access card to start a tab, and then being able to choose your own adventure. Bills are normally settled at the end, as the tally is accrued throughout the visit.
Choosing the Right Option
- Card Generator: Simple, low-cost, easy to run → ideal for smaller venues or fixed-price tastings.
- EnoSoft Professional: More advanced, flexible, and data-driven → ideal for larger or busier venues.
Both systems enhance the self-service experience—it’s just a matter of matching the right tool to your business goals.
